BREAD UTHAPAM

Uttapam is a popular South Indian traditional dish which is made with rice and lentil batter and is a very long process.

Bread Uttapam is easy, quick, and instantly can be prepared.


Ingredients

White bread - 4 slices
Sooji (semolina) - 3-4 tbsp
Plain flour - 3 tbsp (optional)
Curd - 1/3rd cup
Salt - to taste
Jeera - 1/4th tsp
Capsicum - 1/4 cup finely chopped
Tomatoes - 1/4 cup finely chopped
Onion - 1/2 cup
Green chillies - 1
Ginger - 1 tsp (optional)
Oil - 1-2 tbsp

For crispness yu can add Lil corn flour


Instructions

Cut the bread in small pieces, if the side crust is thick n hard, then remove it

In a mixie add bread pieces, sooji, all-purpose flour, salt, yogurt and water, blend to a thick and smooth paste.


You can do it with your hands too.


Take the mixed batter in a bowl and add the remaining ingredients, cumin seeds, bell pepper, tomatoes, onion, ginger, green chili, and cilantro, mix it well.






Batter should be thick in consistency add more water if needed, batter should not be too thick but should not be runny.



Heat the Dosa tawa over medium heat and lightly grease it with oil or butter.


Pour about 2 tablespoons of batter and spread like small poori size and thickness of pancake.


Pour little oil around the uthapam and let it cook for about 2 minutes and flip it over.



You can cook the same with lid closed for fast cooking.


Bread uttapam should be golden brown from both sides and is ready to be served.

Goes best with coconut chutney or green chutney.




Notes:

1. You can use other bread as well - Non sweet

2. Adding plain flour is optional

3. Can add colorful veggies to make it healthier.

4. Will be a great hit with Kids 😃

6. Adding grated cheese to the batter... Tastes heavenly 😋😋
