EASY TOMATO RASAM

Back again, as posted rasam vada recipe,,, i am posting you yummy rasam recipe you can have with vadas n ofcourse with rice.

Tasty tomato rasam - very delicious n aromatic rasam good for digestion and cold also.

Ingredients

Red riped country tomatoes - 5 big ones
Tamarind extract 2 tbsp
Rasam powder 1 tbsp
Red chilly powder - 1 tbsp
Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
Curry leaves 1 sprig
Coriander leaves - 1-2 tbsp fine chopped.
Dry red chillies - 4-5
Mustard 1 tsp
Jeera 1 tsp
Oil - 1 tbsp
Salt As needed
Water - 3 cups

Instruction -

Soak tamarind in hot water and extract the juice and keep aside.


Take tomatoes and cut into 4 reaching to the end and not cutting fully and boil in enough water for peeling the skin.


You can do this in cooker by cooking for 1 whistle,

Once the tomatoes are cooled, remove the skin and blend it.




Now heat the kadai and put oil and temper with jeera, mustard and asoefetida, curry leaves and dry red chillies.




Once they start spluttering, add tomato extract and add masala with tamarind extract and rasam powder.






Let it cook for 2 mins and add 3 cups of water, now let the rasam come to rolling boil, put coriander leaves.




Enjoy hot with medhu vadas or steaming hot rice with a tsp of ghee mixed with it.

Note:

1. You can prepare rasam directly with frying chopped tomatoes without pressure cooking just like tomato chutney.

2. Adding garlic enhance the taste of rasam, restrict to 2 cloves.

3. Adding toor dal takes it all-together a different taste.
